Privacy Policy
Time Frame is designed so that your work stays yours. This policy explains what the app stores, where it goes, and the choices you have.
Summary
- Time Frame does not collect your personal information. The developer operates no server for the app and receives none of your data.
- There is no account, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDK in the app.
- Your timers, templates, plans and session history are stored in the app on your device. If you turn on iCloud Sync, they are also stored in your own private iCloud database, which the developer cannot access.
- Calendar and notifications are used only after you grant permission, and only for features you turn on.
Who is responsible
Time Frame is developed by Abir Barman, an individual developer (“I”, “me”). This policy covers the Time Frame apps for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, their widgets and system controls, and this website. Time Frame is not yet available on the App Store; this policy describes the app as it is built today and will be updated if that changes.
Information stored on your device
To work, Time Frame keeps the following on your device, inside the app’s own storage:
- Your library: timer configurations (names and durations), task templates, plans, and the icons and Quick Start pins you choose.
- Session history: each session’s task name, configuration, start and end times, its intervals, and how each ended.
- Preferences: settings such as notification, calendar, menu bar and Live Activity options.
- A device identifier: a random identifier created on first launch and kept in your device’s Keychain. It lets your own devices recognise each other when you use sync. It is not an advertising identifier and is not linked to your identity.
Widgets, the Live Activity and Control Center read a small summary of the current session and today’s totals from a container shared only between Time Frame’s own app and extensions on the same device.
Data on your device is protected by the operating system’s standard data protection. Time Frame does not add its own encryption layer on top of it.
iCloud Sync
iCloud Sync is optional. When you turn it on in Settings › Sync & Devices, Time Frame uses Apple’s CloudKit service to store your configurations, templates, plans, session history and a list of your devices in your private iCloud database, under your Apple Account.
- The private database belongs to your iCloud account. Apple provides and operates it; I cannot see, read or export its contents, and I do not receive a copy of your data.
- The content of each synced record — such as task names and history — is stored in CloudKit’s encrypted fields, which Apple encrypts with keys tied to your iCloud account. A small amount of technical information that contains none of your content, such as record types, version stamps and modification dates, is stored without that additional encryption so that changes can be merged correctly.
- The device list includes each device’s name (for example, the name you gave your Mac), model, operating system version, app version, and when it was first and last seen, so that Settings can show your devices.
- Storage in iCloud is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy and the iCloud terms you have agreed to with Apple, and counts toward your iCloud storage.
If you turn iCloud Sync off, Time Frame keeps working entirely on the device. Deleting an item in the app while sync is on also removes its content from your iCloud database. Turning sync off does not by itself erase what is already stored there; you can delete it from your Apple Account’s iCloud storage settings, where Apple offers that option for the app.
Nearby sync between your devices
When sync is on, Time Frame can also exchange changes directly with your other nearby devices signed in to the same iCloud account, over your local network. This uses Apple’s local networking, so your device asks for Local Network permission first. Connections are encrypted with a key that only devices signed in to your iCloud account can derive, so other people’s devices cannot join. This traffic never passes through any server I operate.
Apple Watch
The Apple Watch app communicates only with your paired iPhone, using Apple’s Watch Connectivity framework. It receives the current session’s state, your pinned workflows and today’s totals, and sends your button presses back to the iPhone. No calendar data is sent to the Watch.
Calendar access
Calendar integration is off until you turn it on. When you do, the system asks for permission to access your calendars. Time Frame uses that access to list your calendars so you can choose one, and to add and update events for the plans and sessions you choose to put on your calendar. It does not read, analyse or upload your other events. Calendar data stays in your calendar app and whichever calendar account you chose. You can revoke access at any time in your device’s Privacy & Security settings.
Notifications
Time Frame schedules local notifications on your device to tell you when an interval ends. They are created on your device, not sent from a server. You can allow, limit or turn off notifications at any time in Settings.
Siri, Shortcuts and widgets
If you use Time Frame’s App Shortcuts, widgets, Control Center controls or Live Activity, the request is handled by the operating system and the app on your device. Any processing Apple performs for Siri is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.
Network connections
The app makes no network connections of its own other than those described above: Apple’s CloudKit service when iCloud Sync is on, and encrypted local connections to your own nearby devices. It contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or other third-party services.
Diagnostics
Time Frame does not collect diagnostics itself. If you have chosen in your device’s settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide me with aggregated crash reports and app-usage statistics that Apple collects under its own privacy policy. These are not linked to your identity, and you can turn this off in your device’s Privacy & Security settings.
This website
This website is a set of static pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts, and it has no forms. Like any website, the hosting provider that delivers these pages may process standard technical data, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in server logs to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. I do not use this data to identify visitors.
Sharing and selling
I do not sell, rent or share your information, and I do not use it for advertising. Time Frame does not track you across apps or websites.
Retention and deletion
- Data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual templates, plans and configurations in the app; deleting the app removes the data stored on that device.
- Data in your private iCloud database stays until you remove it, as described under iCloud Sync, or close your iCloud account.
- Calendar events Time Frame created remain in your calendar until you delete them there.
- Because I do not hold your data, there is nothing for me to retain, export or delete on my side.
Security
Time Frame relies on the security of Apple’s platforms: app sandboxing, device data protection, iCloud account security and encrypted local connections. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so please keep your devices and Apple Account protected with a passcode and two-factor authentication.
Children
Time Frame is a general productivity app and is not directed at children. Because it collects no personal information, it does not knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices and rights
You control your data directly: you can view, change and delete it in the app, turn sync on or off, and revoke calendar, notification and local network permissions in your device settings. Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over personal data held about you; since I hold none, requests about iCloud data are best directed to Apple, and anything else can be sent to me as described below.
Changes to this policy
If Time Frame’s handling of information changes — for example, when it is released on the App Store or gains a new feature that affects your data — I will update this page and its “Last updated” date before the change takes effect.
